Van Campen Liem has assisted Intertrust Group with its appointment as first official AIFMD depositary in the Netherlands.
The Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets (AFM) released its first licenses on 17 February 2014, whereby Intertrust Netherlands is to act as a depositary for the Dutch real estate fund managers Vesteda and Bouwinvest.
Intertrust developed depositary capabilities in response to the announcement of the Alternative Investment Fund Manager’s Directive (AIFMD) with AIFMD’s aim being to offer regulatory protection to investors in Alternative Investmment Funds (AIFs). As a depositary, Intertrust holds and safeguards private equity or real estate assets for the benefit of he investors in these funds.
